AI Sentiment Score

Getting mentioned by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews isn’t automatically a win. Sentiment score shows you whether those mentions are working for you, or against you.
  • Track how AI models actually talk about you, not just whether they do
  • Catch negative or hedged framing before it spreads across thousands of buyer conversations
  • See sentiment broken out from visibility, so a rising mention count is never mistaken for a rising reputation

Why sentiment score exists

A brand can show up constantly in AI-generated answers and still be described in a way that costs it business: framed as expensive, unreliable, outdated, or tied to a specific complaint. Mention rate tells you that you’re part of the conversation. It says nothing about what’s actually being said.

A topic where you’re mentioned often but described unfavorably is a worse position than a topic where you’re barely mentioned at all. In the first case, AI models are actively shaping how prospects perceive you, and doing it badly, every time someone asks a relevant question. In the second, you have a visibility gap, which is a content problem with a known fix. The first is a reputational risk sitting inside a channel most brands aren’t monitoring at all.

That’s why sentiment is tracked as its own metric rather than folded into a single visibility number. A rising mention count is only good news once you know what the mentions say.

How sentiment score works

Step 1 Every mention is analyzed for framing
For every generated answer that mentions your brand, we look at how it’s described: trusted and recommended, or hedged, compared unfavorably, or tied to a specific complaint or limitation.
Step 2Sentiment is scored on the same 0-100 scale
Each mention’s framing is converted into a score, so sentiment can sit alongside mention rate in a single, comparable number instead of a separate qualitative report you have to interpret yourself.
Step 3Scores are pooled across every AI platforms
Sentiment isn’t calculated per assistant and then averaged. It’s pooled across all tracked platforms, the same way mention rate is, so one assistant’s unusually harsh or unusually generous phrasing doesn’t distort the topic-level number.
Step 4Sentiment feeds into your Topic Authority score
Topic Authority (TA) score combines mention rate (80% weight) and sentiment (20% weight) into a single number from 0 to 100. Placement within the answer is not factored in. The weighting reflects that visibility has to exist before tone matters, but the 20% is far from a footnote, it’s the part of the score built specifically to catch reputational risk that mention rate alone would miss.

Why our sentiment tracking is more reliable

Separated from visibility

Sentiment is scored and reported as its own number, never blended into mention rate in a way that hides a perception problem behind a good visibility number.

Pooled across platforms

Sentiment reflects how you’re described across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews combined, not a single assistant’s tone treated as representative of all of them.

Tied to real generated answers

Every sentiment score traces back to actual AI-generated text that mentions your brand, not a generic reputation estimate.

Built for early warning, not just reporting

Sentiment score is designed to surface a shift in how AI models frame your brand as early as possible, before that framing compounds across buyer conversations you’ll never see directly.

Feeds directly into action

A low sentiment score isn’t a dead end. It’s a diagnosis that surfaces the specific answers and sources driving the negative or hedged framing, so you know exactly what to fix.

What you get

  • A sentiment score for every tracked topic, pooled across all tracked AI platforms
  • Sentiment reported separately from mention rate, so visibility and perception are never conflated
  • The specific generated answers behind a topic’s sentiment score, so you can see exactly how your brand is being framed
  • Sentiment as a weighted component of your overall Topic Authority score
  • Action plan tasks tied to sentiment gaps, identifying the source shaping unfavorable framing so you know what to address
  • Full transparency into which prompts were run and what each AI engine returned

Frequently asked questions

Is a high mention rate the same as good AI visibility?
No. A brand can be mentioned frequently and still be described unfavorably. Sentiment score exists specifically to separate how often you’re mentioned from how well you’re described.
What does a sentiment score actually measure?
How AI-generated answers frame your brand when they mention it, whether the tone is trusted and recommended, neutral, or hedged, comparative, or critical. Scores are reported on a 0-100 scale.
How is sentiment combined with mention rate?
Topic Authority score weights mention rate at 80% and sentiment at 20%, pooled across all tracked AI platforms. Placement within the answer is not factored in.
What happens if my sentiment score is low?
It’s treated as a diagnosis, not a dead end. We surface the specific AI-generated answers and underlying sources driving the negative or hedged framing, so you can see exactly what to address, whether that’s your own content, a distributor listing, or third-party review content the model is drawing from.
Why track sentiment separately instead of one overall score?
Because the fix is different depending on the problem. Low mention rate with strong sentiment is a content gap. Strong mention rate with weak sentiment is a reputational risk. Blending them into one number hides which problem you actually have.
