This guide walks through the full flow, with a close look at the two steps that matter most for accuracy: connecting Google Search Console, and reviewing the topics our AI finds before you approve them.

1.  Add your website

Start by entering your website URL and a display name. You can optionally sort it into a folder if you’re managing multiple sites, and choose which AI models to track it against — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews are all selected by default. Once you hit Approve & find keywords, our scanning agent reads your site to understand your brand, audience, and the topics you operate in.

After the scan finishes, you’ll see an AI-generated summary of what your business is about, along with the industry and primary language it detected. Take a moment to check this is accurate — it’s the foundation everything else is built on.

2.  Connect Google Search Console

This is the step we’d encourage you not to skip. Search Console gives our model real query data for your domain — the actual terms people are already searching that lead them to your site. Without it, topic and keyword discovery relies purely on market-level data instead of your own performance data.

Why it matters:  Search Console data lets our model ground your topics in real, verified search behavior tied to your domain, rather than generic category data. This is usually the single biggest factor in how relevant your first batch of topics turns out to be.

Choose the Google account associated with your site, grant GEOtracking.AI access, and confirm the property you want to connect. If Search Console isn’t available for this site, you can skip this step — the AI will fall back to market and category data instead.

3.  Let the AI find your topics

Once connected, our model combines your site profile, Search Console queries, and market data from multiple keyword databases to group related search behavior into topics. This is the same topic-first approach behind the rest of the product: we don’t start from a handful of manually picked prompts, we start from the topics your business actually competes on, and generate prompts from there.

This step typically takes under a minute. You’ll see live progress as the model checks market data and search queries, then narrows everything down into a shortlist of topics.

4.  Review your topics — and add your own if something’s missing

This is the second step worth slowing down for. The AI will surface what it believes are the most relevant topics for your business, each with a set of related keywords. Before approving, it’s worth checking:

  • Do the topics reflect what you’d actually want to be visible for in AI answers?
  • Are there important product lines, services, or use cases the AI didn’t pick up?
  • Is anything too broad or off-target for your business?

Something missing?  Click “Add a topic” to manually create one. This is useful when the AI hasn’t found a topic you know is important — a new product line, a niche service, or a competitive angle that isn’t showing up clearly in search or market data yet. Manually added topics are treated exactly the same as AI-discovered ones: we generate prompts, run them across your selected AI models, and start tracking mentions immediately.

You can also edit or remove any topic the AI found before moving on. Nothing here is locked in — you can always adjust topics later from the dashboard.

5.  Approve and start tracking

Once your topic list looks right, hit Approve topics & start analysis. GEOtracking.AI immediately starts generating prompts for each topic and running your first analysis across the AI models you selected in step 1. Scores will start populating automatically as each topic finishes.

From here, your dashboard will show your AI Visibility score, mention rate, and sentiment per topic as results come in — typically within a few minutes for the first pass.
